Our Sunflower U-Pick is now closed until Saturday, October

The Riverbend Trading Post Sunflower U-Pick Farm has wrapped up its 6th sunflower season, and once again, we’re so grateful for everyone who came out to pick flowers, take photos, share laughs and make memories with us.

Six seasons later, one thing has not changed:

Around here, we grow more than sunflowers — we grow smiles, memories and a little prairie magic too. 🌻

This year’s mix of sunshine and rain helped the sunflowers grow quickly, but it also moved them to seed earlier than expected. At this point in the season, there simply are not enough bright yellow blooms left to offer the photo opportunities and sunflower-picking experience we want our guests to have.

Rather than have anyone make the drive and leave disappointed, we’ve closed the Sunflower U-Pick for the season and are turning our attention to what comes next.

Now we’re watching Witch Hazel’s Homestead, where the pumpkin patch is growing.

We already have multiple pumpkins developing, and we’ll be spending September getting the area ready for fall, including a few upgrades — and maybe even something a little spooky.

We’re also planning to offer another Nature Walk or two with Andy this year.

Fall is a wonderful time for bird watching as many species begin their seasonal migration. The changing weather can bring a different variety of birds through the area, and the cooler temperatures make for a beautiful time to explore the prairie and river landscape.

While the Sunflower U-Pick is resting, our:

🏕️ Campground remains open

So there are still plenty of reasons to make a trip to Riverbend this fall.

Riverbend is a rural destination, so we recommend topping up your fuel before making the drive.

Fuel is available in communities such as Lashburn and Maidstone, as well as Lloydminster and the Battlefords, depending on which direction you are travelling from.

Once you leave the highway communities, services become more limited.
